From Efwa:
Efwa,
'I loved the drama and poetry of this'
It's a fantastic story isn't it?
But remember it's Mollys story.
I haven't seen the film, but I have seen where it was made in the outback.
There's this little shanty town, the name escapes me for the moment, I'll dig it out of my notes when I get a chance, which is basically a bunkhouse next to a railway line.
Population is four.
There's a mad Englishman called Harry who wanders the outback every day searching for a big cat he swears he encountered one night, years ago while bushwalking in the area.
Every night, one of the worlds longest trains pulls throught this little town, which used to be used to fill the old steam trains with water from a tank.
The trains don't stop now of course.
You can here the rumour of the coming train tens of minutes before it arrives by putting your ear to the track.
It takes ages to pass through and the squabbling cockatoos squawk in outrage as its thundrous passing disturbs their sleep.
Which is fine, because the cockatoos disturb everyone elses with their incessant bickerings.
One of the towns inhabitants plays the guitar, not particularly well, and we ended up having a rather tuneless but hearty singsong as we watched the setting sun dip below the horizon and the long dusty day was finally extinguished.
Thanks for the luck!
yechydda,
